CELLS – THE BASIC UNIT OF LIFE
Definition
The cells are defined as the structural and functional unit of living organisms.
Cell is the smallest and basic unit of life, making up every living organism.
Types of organisms.
Unicellular. In unicellular organisms like amoebas and bacteria, a single cell
carries out all the functions necessary for life.
Multicellular. Multicellular organisms, such as plants and animals, are composed
of numerous specialized cells that work together to sustain life.
Life
It is a set of properties that distinguish living organisms from nonliving objects
(including dead organisms).
