Biological Neuron Models Outro

Описание к видео Biological Neuron Models Outro

Description: In this lecture Prof. Poirazi will give an overview of various types of neuron models. She will start with the simplest neuron model i.e. the McCulloch-Pitts’ artificial neuron model and the most complex one i.e. the Hodgkin-Huxley neuron model. The main purpose of the lecture is to expose you to a set of computationally important properties of biological neurons that are not captured by simple point neurons (that you worked with during the tutorials). Prof. Poirazi will focus on the role of neuron morphology and synaptic plasticity and show how they can be incorporated in simple models with manageable complexity.
Besides the specific models, we think that this lecture will give you some deep insights about the philosophy of mathematical modelling in neuroscience -- when and how to extend simple models and bring them close to reality.

We thank Martin Irani for editing this video, and Srinidhi Ragunathan for manually adjusting the English captions. Chinese translations and Spanish translations will hopefully be added at a later point in time.

Neuromatch Academy (NMA) is a massive, interactive, online summer school experience spanning from hands-on modeling experience to meta-science interpretation skills across just about everything that could reasonably be included in the label "computational neuroscience". We're a group of neuroscientists from around the globe who have run smaller, in-person summer schools in the past, but created NMA in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
