Cirque De Soleil - Luzia

Upon returning from a recent trip to South America, to celebrate a bit of a milestone in my life I purchased myself a ticket to "Luzia", a Cirque du Soleil show inspired by the richness of the Mexican culture. The name Luzia fuses the sound of luz ("light" in Spanish) and lluvia ("rain"), two elements at the core of the show’s creation.

Luzia is inspired by the people, places, and stories that define Mexico and in my opinion is a visual masterpiece that I think should not be missed. Take a journey through an imaginary Mexico, from the folklore of old to the urban landscape of today with a surrealistic series of grand visual surprises and breathtaking acrobatic performances.

Luzia highlights the vibrant culture of a country whose wealth stems from an extraordinary mix of influences and creative collisions – a land that inspires awe with its breathtaking landscapes and architectural wonders, and brings to the stage multiple places, faces and sounds of Mexico taken from both tradition and modernity buoyed by the indomitable spirit of its people.

If the show comes to a city near you, do yourself a favor and grab some tickets, you will not be disappointed.

Luzia has a cast of 44 artists from 15 countries, some of whom come from Cambodia's Phare circus that Le and I visited whilst in Siem Reap.
