A Serious Fight Between Elephant Bulls, Mambo & Zindoga

A serious fight between Mambo and Zindoga took place recently. The two bulls frequently spar, which serves as practice but also a way of challenging each other for status in the hierarchy of the herd. Mambo takes sparring seriously and often challenges many members in the herd. He and Zindoga grew up together and over the years have been good friends. As the teenage years take hold, the sparring becomes more serious, with Mambo especially causing trouble for Zindoga and instigating a lot of fights. Here Mambo has given Zindoga quite a blow during the sparring session and both bulls appear to be very unhappy. The whole herd reacts, with Tokwe and Lundi as prominent females trying to get to the bottom of the issue and to calm the bulls down. Elephant carer Owen films and narrates the moment for us!
