Trains at Birmingham New Street - 07/05/2024

Filmed on 07/05/2024. So, its time for another trip to the second city outside London which has seen quite a few of the new trains in service by West Midlands Railway. Yep, this is Birmingham New Street (Season 11 Episode 9)

This station is also where all Cross Country services do meet connecting for the North, South, East and West near enough all parts of the country. The recent news as well is Cross Country Trains is having a brand new look to their trains as well as a full interior refurb. Also, with a few timetable changes which will see fewer Cross Country services stopping at Wakefield Westgate as part of direct links non stop between Leeds and Sheffield.

West Midlands Railway has introduced their new class 730's which are working on Walsall to Wolverhampton services and will soon be introduced along the Cross City services to replace all of the class 323's which should all end up transferring across to Northern. Also, by CAF the new class 196's in either 2 or 4 carriage formation are now in service which has replaced all the 170 Turbostar units which are now with East Midlands Railway. The class 196's can be seen working on Birmingham to Hereford/Shrewsbury services.
