ব্রজ–গোপী খেলে হোরী
খেলে আনন্দ নবঘন শ্যাম সাথে।
রাঙা অধরে ঝরে হাসির কুম্‌কুম্‌
অনুরাগ–আবীর নয়ন–পাতে।।
পিরীতি–ফাগ মাখা গোরীর সঙ্গে
হোরি খেলে হরি উন্মাদ রঙ্গে।
বসন্তে এ কোন্ কিশোর দুরন্ত
রাধারে জিনিতে এলো পিচ্‌কারী হাতে।।
গোপীনীরা হানে অপাঙ্গ খর শর ভ্রুকুটি ভঙ্গ
অনঙ্গ আবেশে জর জর থর থর শ্যামের অঙ্গ।
শ্যামল তনুতে হরিত কুঞ্জে
অশোক ফুটেছে যেন পুঞ্জে পুঞ্জে
রঙ–পিয়াসি মন ভ্রমর গুঞ্জে
ঢালো আরো ঢালো রঙ প্রেম–যমুনাতে।।

Smt. N. Rajam, a renowned violin master as a brilliant solo violinist and Hindustani classical music performer was born in the professional music family of the Chennai in the year 1938.
Vidwan A Narayana Iyer her father was a great and well known model of the Carnatic Music. She has learned the Carnatic Music from her father and practiced her raga from the Musiri Subramania Iyer and Pandit Omkarnath Thakur. She got her training also by the renowned expert Pt Mahadev Mishra. She has started her music career in the early age and became a legend in the music field. She has started performing as a Hindustani violinist at her age 15. She became the music Professor at the BHU, Varanasi in the art faculty for around 40 years. After that she became the head of department as well as Dean of the college at BHU.

Rajam made a patch breaking entry through her Professor and Dean in Banaras Hindu University for 40 years and has been the recipient of countries awards including one of the highest civilian honors in India, the Padmashri and the Padmabushan. In Indian classical music successful duet playing or jugalbandi, demands spontaneous musical improvisation with a high level of mutual understanding and aesthetic rapport, and takes on a special significance when performed by mother and daughter. Rajam has many disciples such as her own niece named Kala Ramnath, her daughter named Sangeeta Shankar, her granddaughters named Ragini Shankar, Nandini Shankar and Pranav Kumar. Some of her music students from the BHU like Swarna Khuntia, Satya Prakash Mohanty and V. Balaji became the prominent violinists.

In the fourth Bengal Classical Music Festival held in Dhaka in 2015, She enthralled the audience by playing the song “Brojo gopi khele hori....” lyrics and tune by Kazi Nazrul Islam.
