Two Component Signaling System: Bacterial Chemotaxis - Signaling pathway

Two-component Signaling System is the most common form of signaling pathway that extracellular events in bacteria.

The two component system in bacteria consists of:

A) Sensor
B) Response Regulator

Movement of organisms in specific directions in response to chemical stimulus is called as chemotaxis.

Bacterial flagellar motion is rotatory in nature.

Membrane protein MotA and MotB along with FliG creates a proton channel that drives the rotation of flagellum.

The rotation of flagella can be clockwise or counterclockwise.

Clockwise rotation results in tumble and Counterclockwise rotation results in forward motion or run.
