2023 Hengchi 5 electric SUV ($26,000) in-depth Walkaround

The Hengchi 5 is an electric crossover produced by the China Evergrande Group. One of its main attractions is its SUV form, which is currently a popular concept. The car has dimensions of 4,725 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, and 1,688 mm high. It is also fully battery-powered, with a power output of 204 hp and 305 Nm of torque from a single electric motor at the front wheels. The battery capacity is 72.8 kWH type lithium phosphate, allowing the car to travel up to 700 kilometers based on NEDC testing. The power supply can be fast charged in about 28 minutes from 30% to 80%.

The Hengchi 5 has a sleek and modern exterior design with various details such as wide fenders, a sporty roof spoiler, and boomerang-shaped lights. The retractable door handles and hip wheel covers give the car a smooth aerodynamic look.

Inside, the Hengchi 5 has a modern, stylish design with three screens, including a large sunroof. The driver and passenger each have a 10.25-inch screen, while the main screen has a diameter of 14.6 inches. This triple-screen system is 5G-connected and works in the Baidu ecosystem. The interior also features a sporty steering wheel with a flat bottom, a wireless phone charging pad, a Start/Stop button, and some hard buttons. The gear shifter is behind the wheel to create a clean, straightforward interior look.

During the online presentation, Hengchi claimed that the 5 is the best electric crossover priced under 300,000 RMB (44,750 USD), which has been met with skepticism.
