This video demonstrates the design and simulation of Full-Bridge DC to DC Converter / isolated DC-DC Converter using PSIM (POWERSIM) . Full Bridge DC to DC Converter is an isolated Buck converter used in SMPS applications. Full Bridge DC to DC Converter employs four switches (MOSFETS) across the transformer primary winding. The current flows continuously irrespective of the operating cycles of switches. Whereas, in an isolated converter such as a flyback converter which employs only one switch, the current is drawn only when the switch is ON. One of the major differences between a Full Bridge DC to DC Converter and a half-bridge is that one input capacitor is used. Therefore, the voltage of (for ex: 50V) is applied directly to the input of the primary transformer. Hence, Full-Bridge DC to DC Converter is preferred for high power ratings and is highly (efficient) than Half-bridge DC to DC converter. The design involves a lot of assumptions and care has to be taken in assuming suitable value.
