Transforming factual information into another medium -- literature, film or drama -- requires a special talent. William Nicholson's new novel, Reckless, set in post-WW2 London, features the Cuban crisis and the Profumo affair. He was also the screenwriter for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Christopher Hampton is a playwright and the writer of the current West End show, Stephen Ward, also based on the Profumo affair. He was the scriptwriter for the film Carrington. They discuss the challenges of converting recent history into art with Rupert Christiansen, opera and dance critic and author of I Know You Are Going to be Happy.
