Many of us first came to know Oscar, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning actress Julie Andrews when she flew into our lives as the wonderful nanny, Mary Poppins. With that role and more, she taught us how to overcome obstacles and even how to sing.

Dame Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton talked with Deborah Duncan about their new memoir, "Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years". The book shares Andrews' experience on stage, screen, and as she managed her personal life.

Andrews and Walton Hamilton visited Houston to speak at the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation "Power of Literacy" luncheon. Andrews said "Reading and writing has played a significant part in both my professional career and my personal life for many, many years. Through our writings and stories, Emma and I strive to not only entertain readers but also to inspire them to dream big in life."
