The 2025 Lexus GX is big news for the Japanese premium brand in Australia, where it will be sold for the first time with this new, third-generation model. But this isn't any old four-wheel-drive (4WD), it's actually based on the next-gen Toyota LandCruiser Prado (250 Series), meaning expectations are very high among off-road enthusiasts chasing a little more luxury in their lives.

That said, the GX goes its own way Down Under with its engine, a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 that produces 260kW of power and 650Nm, dubbed GX550, blowing the new Prado's 150kW/500Nm 2.8-litre single-turbo diesel four-cylinder unit out of the water outputs-wise. But, of course, there's more to the GX story than what's under its bonnet.
