Japanese Dessert Agar Milk Fruits | Kanten Recipe

Agar powder or Kanten are white and semi translucent gelatinous substance obtained fro algae,
It is great alternative to animal based gelatin.
It was discoverd by Minoya Toarozaemon in 1658. The word agar is come from Indonesian name Red Algae.
This dessert is really delicious and can help you in diet too. You can alternate all ingredients in healthy sugar like lacanto ,milk for non fat milk and etc.
Kanten is a natural vegetable gelatin, which has 80% fiber. Its suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets people. It sets more firmly than gelatin and it is able to set at room temperature.
This dessert are very famous here in japan and its usually included can orange fruits or fresh orange fruits.

We need

150ml water
250 milk
4gram agar powder or kanten
50g sugar
( it depends to your sweetness like)
3 tbsp condense milk
( if you dont have condense milk you can adjust the sugar according to your taste)


1. Add water and agar and bring to boil low heat or if your in a hurry meduim anmd mix mix well
2. when it is boil check it with spoon to make sure the agar is complety dissolve, if it still powder in spoon mix again,
3,after it dissolve completly turn off the heat and put the remaining ingredients,
4.Turn on heat at low and mix for two minutes
5. Pour in a container,,then prepare the fruits align t to the container and pour the mixture .
