My Best Friend Ghosted Me

In middle school Anna moved from a private school to a public school and she didn't know anybody - she was dreading the new school year. She wanted to meet people, and always liked singing, so she was bold and she tried out for the middle school talent show, and got accepted! She also got recruited by the Choir teacher and so she joined choir, and that's where she met Leah.

Leah was your typical popular girl - talented and pretty, and everyone wanted to be her friend. Then, in the summer before 8th grade Anna was finally allowed to get on social media and she found Leah on instagram. Leah started following Anna on instagram and messaged her to say hi. They kept messaging each other and liking each other's posts, and when the new school year finally started, they became best friends, bff's, inseparable.

Anna had never had a best friend like Leah. They were truly, truly best friends, at least up until the summer before 10th grade - sophomore year. Anna was part of a larger friend group, and Leah had been part of it as well, until something happened, an argument or silly disagreement, but it ended up having Leah leave the group.

After the lockdown had ended in their city, Anna tried to arrange for the whole group to get together again, including Leah - she wanted to rekindle the relationship - but nobody was free at the same time and they couldn't schedule it. So Anna just texted Leah to see how she was doing and if she wanted to get together and hang out. But, even though she had read the text message, she didn't reply. Anna didn't think it was a big deal, that Leah would just text her back later, but later came and went without a text back from her.

Anna messaged and texted her every day to see if she was okay and never got a response. Her best friend ghosted her for three weeks. Ghosted for three weeks!! One day Anna decided to just call her and she actually picked up. Anna asked what she had done to get ghosted like that, and Leah went off on her - ultimately saying that Anna was a bad friend because she didn't comment on Leah's instagram posts. Anna couldn't believe it - she was being called a bad friend, and being ignored and ghosted, just because she didn't comment on Instagram?!?!? Then Leah hung up on her. Anna was left crying herself to sleep - one of the saddest days of her life.

But, after some time passed she realized she was actually happier without Leah, and that the relationship was really toxic. Leah always insulted Anna and put her down and made her feel bad about herself. She made fun of her looks, her personality, what she did, who she liked, everything. And Anna just wasn't okay with that, and finally realized that nobody deserves to be around someone who puts them down like that, or requires bizarre things like commenting on Instagram posts to show you are a friend.

It's pretty bad, being ghosted or having to say she ghosted me.
