Inauguration of the Pagudpud Tourist Rest Area 5/17/2024

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the inauguration of the Pagudpud Tourist Rest Area (TRA) at the Saud Beach in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on 17 May 2024.

The construction of the Pagudpud TRA aligns with the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) mission to enhance the country's tourism industry through strategic infrastructure development, equitable opportunities for tourist destinations and an improved overall tourism experience.

It is governed by Department Order (DO) No. 2023-0073 that outlines the guidelines for the efficient management and operation of the TRA Program by local government units (LGUs).

Among the primary objectives of the TRAs are the enhancement of the overall tourism experience through essential services and amenities, as well as the showcase of Filipino artistry with local products and culturally inspired designs. Each TRA is equipped with the following:

- Tourist Information and Assistance Center
- Restroom with Persons with Disabilities (PWD)/Senior Citizen Access
- Breastfeeding Station
- Charging and Work Station with Internet Connection
- Rest Area
- Automated Teller Machine (ATM)
- Dining Area
- Pasalubong Center

As the 9th facility to be completed and handed over to the LGU, the Pagudpud TRA is the first to be inaugurated in mainland Luzon and the first in Northern Luzon.

With its inauguration, a total of nine (9) TRAs have now been completed and are operational. These are located in Roxas, Palawan; Dauis, Bohol; Medellin, Moalboal, Carmen and Carcar City in Cebu; Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon; and Samal Island, Davao Del Norte. The 10th TRA, situated in Baguio City, is slated for completion and inauguration by the third quarter of 2024.
