In Vancouver, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre announces that his party will introduce a private member's bill seeking to ban the use of illicit drugs in hospitals. The ban would not apply to drugs prescribed by medical professionals.

The Conservatives' proposed bill would end the federal health minister’s power to grant an exemption under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act if it would allow individuals to use hard drugs in hospitals. The legislation would also make it an aggravating factor for sentencing if an individual brings a weapon into a hospital. The federal government recently complied with British Columbia's request to recriminalize the use of illicit drugs in public spaces including hospitals.
