Описание к видео The Greenway (Original Composition) | Memoranda Music

Here is the video version of me playing my 2nd original composition titled "The Greenway".

If you didn't know already, I'm a huge fan of RADWIMPS, specifically their songs written for the 2016 Japanese movie Your Name. RADWIMPS has a huge inspiration for me as a beginner composer, and I've always wanted to be able to write something in the style of Your Name music. When listening to the songs on Spotify, I noticed that all the songs are titled (and presumably written) for different characters/scenes/situations in the movie. For example, songs like "First View of Tokyo", "School Road", and "Itomori High School". Each song has a different mood, and helps enhance what's happening on screen. With this in mind, I started to look for something I could base my new composition on, and I settled on a walk/bike greenway in my city.

The hardest part for me was starting the actual writing process, however I knew that I wanted to do something like the repeated motif in "First View of Tokyo". I ended up writing this part for harp, which you can hear throughout the piece. I don't play harp, so I have no idea if the part I've written is actually playable (lol). Second, I knew I wanted to have an overlapping choral string quartet vibe like in "Katawaredoki", so from then on, I pretty much just went with the flow. Throughout "The Greenway" I've incorporated "call and answer" melodies in the violin and cello voices, which is a very classical-esque thing to do. I'll always remember playing the Bach double on violin with my friends, and how the music becomes like a conversation between two people. I also will never forget practicing this one piece for my grade 8 piano exam where my teacher kept telling me that my right hand and left hand should be having a conversation. And so I was inspired by those two experiences to write something like that into my piece.

I'm really enjoying writing my own compositions, and I hope to do more soon! Hope you enjoy "The Greenway" written by me.

NOTE: The cello and harp parts are MIDI generated audio.

ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Amanda. My very first instrument was the violin, which I started playing at 4 years old, however, since then, I've picked up piano, clarinet, bass clarinet, and alto & baritone saxophone. I made this channel to keep a record of all my musical creations in hopes that my future self will have a place to look back and reminisce the musical part of my youth. Subscribe to follow along my journey!

ABOUT MY MUSIC
All my covers are 100% original unless stated otherwise; I also learn them all by ear! I've never been the best sight reader, so in comparison to reading sheet music, playing things by ear is much easier and faster for me. All compositions are 100% original.
