Building a DIY elevator bed in a campervan we watched several hours of videos and attempted to document the ideal parts list and copy others success. Several videos indicated a motor with 8 N.M of torque would be sufficient to lift a bed frame and mattress with no trouble. They were wrong!

We simply can't spend thousands of dollars on a Happijack or Euroloft bed lift, for us this was the easiest and most affordable Happijac alternative.

We had such high hopes for our van bed lift system, do others have the same problems with diy elevator beds for campervans? What issues with a bed lift did you encounter? All the youtubers seem successful, what's the truth about diy bed lifts for vans?
