Discover how the FT801 IC from FTDI makes it easy to develop a human machine interface (HMI).

The FT801 embedded video engine series is an easy to use, high value, high quality graphics to human machine interface (HMI) application from FTDI. The FT801 is an extension from the FT800 series. It has a touch controller that supports five different capacitive touches on 4.3 or 5 inch screens with targeted screen resolutions of 512 x 512 pixels. While the FT801 has the same footprint at the FT800, including the 3 in 1 functionality of touch, audio, and display, it also offers improved functionalities such as capacitive touch, allowing it to be more sensitive to touch and thus more accurate than the FT800. Additional apps can be developed using EVE software from FTDI; daughter cards and accessories are also available via FTDI. The accuracy and responsiveness of the FT801 makes it well-suited for applications demanding multi-touch operations and gestures such as POS machines, multi-function printers, home security systems, medical equipment, and thermostats.
