X-men 2000 मध्ये आले आणि त्यानंतरचे सिक्वेल जगभरातील प्रेक्षकांना आवडले. खरं तर, तेरा चित्रपट रिलीज झाल्यावर, X-Men चित्रपट मालिका ही जगभरात आठव्या क्रमांकाची सर्वाधिक कमाई करणारी चित्रपट मालिका आहे, या चित्रपटांनी 6 अब्ज डॉलर्सची कमाई केली आहे.
अशा गोष्टी (SciFi - science fiction) पाहण्या / वाचण्याकरता आता कुठे भारतातील प्रेक्षक mature होत आहेत. युगपुरुष या कथे मध्ये कदाचित आपल्याला याचे मूळ सापडेल. नारायण धारप यांनी हि खिळवून टाकणारी विज्ञान कथा १९७० मध्ये प्रकाशित केली. त्यांनी या कथा ज्या काळात लिहिल्या, तेव्हा घराघरात टेलिफोन, TV, कॉम्प्युटर, इंटरनेट हे काहीही अस्तित्वात नव्हते आणि लोकांना विज्ञान कथेची चव नव्हती.
त्यांच्या कल्पनाशक्तीने आणि भाषा प्रभुत्वामुळे मी नेहमीच भारावून जातो. त्यांची कथा वाचकाला अक्षरशः गळा दाबून धरते. जर ते परदेशात असते, तर बेस्ट सेलर्सच्या यादीत त्यांच्या कथा सर्वोच्च स्थानी अखन्ड विराजमान झाल्या असत्या. परंतु त्यांची कल्पना शक्ती जरी आकाशगंगेमध्ये संचार करत राहिली तरी त्यांनी जमिनी वरचे पाय कधी सोडले नाहीत.
युगपुरुष या कथेमध्ये आपण एका वेगळ्या, उत्परिवर्तित मनुष्याबद्दल वाचतो, मानव जात जेव्हा अवकाश प्रवास बद्दल उदासीन झालेली असते तेव्हा आपला नायक मानसिक शक्तीने, संपूर्ण विश्व संचार प्रत्यक्षात आणतो आणि 5000 प्रकाश वर्ष दूर परकी मनाच्या संपर्कात येतो आणि सुरु होतो एक थक्क करणारा प्रवास...

The audience in India is getting mature now to absorb this content. Narayan Dharap published this amazing marathi Sci-Fi in 1970. He has written these stories, when Telecommunication was sparse, internet was non-existent & people had no taste for science fiction.
I am always amazed by his imagination & his mastery over the word play. He captures the moment & his story grips the reader in a strangle hold. If he was a foreign author, he would have been at the top of the best sellers list. But he led a simple & down to earth life even if his head was in the galaxies. In this story we read about a mutated human being, who finds a break through for space travel with MIND, & comes in contact with an alien mind 5000 light years away and then starts an amazing journey…
