Nursing Profession in Pakistan: The Past, Present & Future Perspective | Dr Raeesa Gul, Mumtaz Jahan

Despite being the largest healthcare workforce, the nursing profession has not received the recognition it deserves, especially in developing countries like Pakistan. While nurses have the potential to play a crucial role in healthcare systems, their responsibilities have been limited to basic care and medication administration. There is a need to improve the quality of nursing education to meet the standards set by Pakistan Nursing Council. Join us as Prof. Raisa Gul, a distinguished member of the nursing community and recipient of the Pride of Performance award, sheds light on the challenges and opportunities in nursing education in Pakistan.

About the speaker:

Prof. Raisa Gul is currently serving as Dean for Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University (STMU). She is also a member of the Prime Minister Task force on health as well as member of Islamabad healthcare regulatory authority. Dr. Gul is a member of the academic committee for Pakistan Nursing council (PNC). She is a visiting professor at Aga khan University Karachi as well. From 2015-2017 she has served as interim Dean and Director at Aga khan University Nursing College, Karachi. She has been awarded Pride of Performance by the President of Pakistan on 23rd March 2021.
