Exercise is a necessary part of our health and life.

HOWEVER - there are times when exercise can become a hindrance to your health and get in the way of healing adrenal fatigue and burnout.

In fact, if your body is already stressed the last thing you want to do is add more stress to it (which is what intensive and fast-paced exercise does.)

It's a time where nurturing, restoration and maintaining and rebuilding a healthy, balanced body are key. One of the best things you can do is decrease and modify different aspects of your workouts, depending on where you are at.

A simple guideline to follow here is the FITT principle : frequency, intensity, type, time.

As a personal trainer, this is one of the fundamental principles you learn pretty much at the start of your personal training course in order to help clients continue to improve, be challenged and work towards sports- specific goals.

By increasing and working on each of these principles you continue to gain improvements and results.

IN THE CASE OF ADRENAL FATIGUE + BURNOUT this is super handy to work in the reverse: Modify and decrease the FITT to adapt your sessions as best it suits you throughout each phase (4) of adrenal fatigue.

*It's important to note that generally exercise-related goals are not the focus here, healing fatigue is priority.

If you focus on this first, then exercise can be slowly integrated back when you are functioning at healthy levels again.

Modify where needed to ensure you have a healthy amount of energy to train and recover.
