살풀이춤은 살풀이 가락에 맞추어 추는 춤이라 하겠다.
살풀이란 살(煞)을 풀기 위해 액(厄)을 제거한다는 호남의 굿 과정에서 무악(巫樂) 살풀이 장단으로 추어지는 살풀이춤은 국가무형문화재 제97호로 지정되었으며 무속의 영향을 받아 기방(妓房)예기(藝妓)들에 의해 삶의 애환으로 추어지던 호남 지역의 춤이 오늘날의 무대 예술로 발전하여 전승되었다.
한의 극치로 기에 이르고, 기가 완성됨으로 마침내 마음을 보이는 춤이다. 또한, 맺고, 풀며, 어르는 기법이 정중동(靜中動)의 미(美)가 매우 섬세한 춤사위로 서정적인 한(恨)과 신명(神冥)이 즉흥성을 요구하며 한국춤의 미적요소인 멋, 흥, 한, 태를 고루 갖춘 대표적인 전통춤이다.

Salpurichum is a dance performed to the melody of Salpuri.
Salpuri is to remove bad luck to relieve evil spirits, and the Salpurichum is performed to the rhythm of the Salpuri of the exorcism music in the Gut(exorcism) of the Honam province. Salpurichum was designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 97.Salpurichum is a dance of the Honam province that was performed by Korean traditional courtesan to express the sorrows of life under the influence of shamanism. It is a dance in which one reaches the climax of Han(a deep
feeling of resignation and regret) and finally reveals the heart as the spirit is completed.
In addition, Salpurichum requires improvisation to express the lyrical Han and Shinmyeong(excitement), while the beauty of Jeong-Jung-Dong is very delicate in the technique of settling, resolving, and soothing.
Salpurichum is a representative traditional dance with Meot(inner spiritual beauty of charm and grace), Heung, Han, and Tae(elegant figure), which are the aesthetic elements of Korean traditional dance.
