Bomberman '94 (TurboGrafx-16) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео Bomberman '94 (TurboGrafx-16) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Hudson Soft's 1993 puzzle-action game for the NEC PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16), Bomberman '94.

Played through the "normal mode" single player story game.

Hudson Soft had some incredible titles on the TG16, as you might expect from a company developing games for a system that they themselves created. It was unrivaled for 16-bit shooters in the early 90s, but what many people didn't realize is that the system also hosted the best Bomberman games around. While the SNES Super Bomberman series was an incredible run of games in its own right, Bomberman '94 was, in my opinion, the best of the 16-bit era titles.

Not only did it push the Turbo's hardware well past what anyone expected in its presentation (these graphics are pretty amazing - just compare this version to its shoddy Genesis port!), but it also established many conventions that other games would eventually reap the benefits of. It nicely develops the anime aesthetic and the animal helper system introduced in Bomberman '93, adds some new powerups of its own, allowed for 5-player multiplayer - none of it was *new*, per se, but it was all so refined and polished that the following games tended to mimic this one rather than expand on it meaningfully - it wasn't until Saturn Bomberman that the series saw as significant as a leap as it did with Bomberman '94.

I can't recommend it highly enough, and while it did only come out in Japan, it's easy enough to come by a copy for your own personal use nowadays!
