Final work on 1960s Gretsch drum rebuild

Описание к видео Final work on 1960s Gretsch drum rebuild

This is the final of 4 videos showing my work on these 60 year old drums! Here I redo the messed up bearing edges, and seal them. Then I do a short demo of the finished product.

They are a set of Gretsch round badge drums; most are from 1958-1962, but the 14" tom is perhaps a decade younger; The snare is also a bit younger, but possibly older than the tom.

Sizes: 14x20, 16x16, 10x14, 9x13, 8x12, 5x14 snare
Aux snares shown at end are 5x10 (modern) & 7.5x15 (1960s RB, cut down from a 12x15 field drum)
Heads: All REMO (I'm a Remo educator)
Coated Amb on top, clear Amb on bottom for 12", 13" & 14" toms
16" floor has Vintage Ambassador top, clear Amb bottom
Coat Amb on 14" & 10" snare top; hazy diplomat on bottom
15" snare has Colorsound top, hazy dip on bottom
Kick is Feltone front head & coated Amb batter. No internal muffling other than the Pratt muffler (batter) and the built-in felt strip on front head.

Recorded with my iPhone 8...the audio (if you're wearing headphones) will demonstrate the excellent warm tom & BD tone--round and fairly dry. Obviously it would all sound better with "real" mics, but I'm happy with this as a basic demo.
