Airblue Flight 202, an Airbus A321-231, crashed on July 28, 2010, near the Margalla Hills in Islamabad, Pakistan, during a domestic flight from Karachi. The aircraft, carrying 146 passengers and six crew members, departed Karachi at 07:41 PKT and entered Islamabad airspace around 09:34 PKT. Adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and low visibility, posed significant challenges as the flight approached its destination.

At 09:47 PKT, the plane deviated from its standard flight path, descending below the safe altitude, and crashed into the hills. The impact destroyed the aircraft, leaving no survivors. This incident remains the deadliest aviation disaster in Pakistan’s history, with all 152 individuals on board losing their lives.

Investigations revealed that pilot error was the primary cause of the crash. The captain displayed poor situational awareness and failed to adhere to standard operating procedures, compounded by communication issues between the crew and air traffic control. The severe weather conditions further exacerbated the situation.

Rescue efforts were hindered by challenging terrain and inclement weather, with all bodies eventually recovered through forensic testing. This tragedy prompted reforms in Pakistan's aviation industry, including stricter safety protocols, enhanced pilot training, and improved crew resource management.
