the barron knights were a British pop rock group formed in 1960 and confined their
popularity mainly in the sixties although they did continue to perform mostly at
cabarets around britain and europe.
the members have changed considerably and one of their founding members died in 2009.
below are the founding members.
BARON ANTONY, BORN ANTONY MICHAEL JOHN OSMOND, BERKSHIRE ENGLAND, BASIST , VOCALIST
PETER 'PEANUT LANGFORD, durham england, rhythm GUITARIST
duke D'Mond, born richard edward palmer, bedfordshire england, died 2009, lead vocalist
butch baker, born lesley john baker, buckinghamshire
england, lead guitarist
dave allinger born david alan ballinger, buckinghamshire
england, drummer.
in the early sixties when such groups as the Beatles and the rolling stones topped
the charts, the barron knights toured extensively with them.
their most successful hit is call up the groups in 1964. a humorous comedy song about
how it would be like if groups like the searchers, freddie & the Dreamers, dave clark
five, the rolling stones and the beatles were to be drafted into the armed forces.
just a fun song performed life although conscription had ended in 1960. the barron
knight's impersonation of these groups were astounding and have to be heard to be
believed if you knew these groups and have heard them before. the song reached number
3 in the u.k. and welled played over radio in the british commonwealth including
singapore and malaysia.
because it's a fun song, the lyrics here is not important and therefore not appended.
