Description from the event:
Why is economy (or the 'Gross National Product') still the main indicator for how 'well' a country is doing in most parts of the world?

It is about time to ensure that prosperity is shared across society and that we stop accepting the destruction of environment as a necessary mean to satisfy our needs.

We are super happy that Khenpo Phuntsok Tashi, a buddhist monk and Head of the National Museum of Bhutan, will come to our Center to talk about the environmental aspects of the 'Gross National Happiness'!

GNH, Gross National Happiness, is the world famous concept that has been replacing GNR, Gross National Product, as an indicator of value for four decades in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. As a result, holistic wellbeing of the whole nation is taken into account rather than just economy. This has led to the most progressive environmental policies in the world.

The country must - by law - be covered by at least 60 percent forest coverage. In reality it is 71 percent, which is unique on our planet! Buthan gets all of it’s power from hydro electric plants and is the only Co2 negative country in the world. It is fair to say that Bhutan can be considered a world leader in sustainability.
