In their own words: “We had always thought about a cover album, so we agreed to make a small album aimed for release on Record Store Day 2018. In December 2017, we started the new project with a light and excited heart, as soon as we finished recording our second album. At first, we thought about Yo La Tengo or Pavement which are our all time favorites but we decided to take the music of legendary bands from a little earlier times to cover in our style. The first song we picked was Velvet Underground's Beginning To See The Light. It was a song suggested by Sumi. She strongly recommended this song, because she always admired Lou Reed’s self-confident attitude and genius talent. However, the other members thought it would be difficult to arrange this song, and the offer was put on hold. Finally, Byungkyu became fascinated by the song (especially the lyrics) and started arranging, and a nice cover song in a Pavement style that was satisfactory in itself was completed. As the arrangement of this song was decided, it was suggested to set one piece of American music from each age (60's ~ 90's) and the next song we picked was The Beach Boys’ version of Do You Wanna Dance. There’re already many cover songs, but we thought this song could be the best way to express our style, and a surf-love song was completed. The next song was Rockaway Beach by The Ramones. It seemed distant from the classic numbers that had already been decided, and when we decided to arrange a tune from the 90's, we concluded that we did not have to have a concept of a cover song for that period. As you all know, the Ramones are one of the best punk bands. We have always admired their style and wanted to make that wonderful and cute feeling. We took quite a long time to decide on the last song. We came up with Blondie by chance and decided to cover their song, Dreaming. There are some people who come to think of Jesus & Marychain listening to our music, and we thought it would be nice to cover this song with their style. We’re pleased that it seems to have been arranged as intended. We chose the title 'It's just a short walk!’ on this album. It took us less than a month from the idea to recording and it felt like we were reaching some place on foot. Any place where we can go by walking is always good, and we want you to hear it like that.” Recent Press NPR “…jangly indie-pop, handclap-rich girl-group classics and the lightly rumbling sounds of early surf-rock. At once stylish and timeless…” Pitchfork “…its vibrant and catchy instrumentation does so much work, “Old Town” suggests less the ache of being alone in a city than it does the tingly feeling that accompanies a life-changing milestone.” KEXP “…jangle-pop hooks, stunning vocal melodies, and intricate guitarwork that stands up proudly against some of their influences like Yo La Tengo and Pavement…” Billboard “…with a growing buzz surrounding their jangly single, “Old Town,” Korean indie quartet Say Sue Me is on the up-and-up…” Uproxx “…you don’t need to fully grasp the backstory to get sucked into its feverish tempo and go-for-broke delivery, with the band’s innate ear for a warm melody striking by the time the chorus kicks in.” The Fader “Really sweet, melodic rock that makes me feel like I’m in high school.” Bandcamp Daily “…an addictive amalgam of sugary indie pop and gritty surf that showcases a finely-tuned sense of melody and technical skill… Nary a song on Say Sue Me isn’t a total ear worm.”
