Solar Peltier Freezer! Solid State prototype refrigeration research, simple components

PROTOTYPE - Can Peltiers make an effective solar powered freezer? As part of my research into what Peltiers can actually do, I built a prototype freezer using off the shelf peltier modules. It actually works quite well and only uses about 60 watts of DC solar power. The benefit of peltiers is that they are solid state - no moving parts, DIY friendly, affordable, no compressor and no refrigerants are required. Basic peltier modules are only a few dollars, but typically find their way into "coolers" and those are limited in their effectiveness. What I want to build is an efficient, effective solid state freezer. In this video I will show you some of the work I have been doing in the solar workshop on solid state freezers - plus an update on my solar peltier air conditioner projects. The purpose of this video is to show that cheap commodity Peltier modules can actually bring a controlled space below freezing temperatures. If this can be accomplished in a basic workshop environment, then there is no reason why such configurations cannot be mass-produced for reasonable cost. Of course refrigerant and compressor-based freezers far exceed the performance of peltier modules. However there are applications for the technology. Peltiers have many advantages such as low cost, no moving parts, no refrigerant and no compressor needed. Perhaps in the future we will see better Peltier based solutions such as small freezers.
