RORQUALS - ‘Agitation Drones’ (An Improvisation with the Make Noise Strega)

I recently gave my Make Noise Strega it’s first live outing…wow, what an instrument it is. It was incredible fun using it to manipulate and mess with various different inputs/samples, but truth be told, I had very little idea what I was doing with it…I still don’t. But that’s the beauty of the Strega - it’s definitely built for exploration and improvisation. You’re never sure where the sound is going to end up and that’s a huge part of what’s so appealing about it.

I wanted to record an improvisation without using the input though, where all the sounds are created by the Strega alone. I sat down and gave myself 10 minutes to hopefully slowly evolve a drone piece, and this is the result, ‘Agitation Drones’ - named after the agitator control on the Strega.

I haven’t really explored the patching side of the Strega as yet - I’ve used a couple here but it’s definitely something I look forward to exploring more in the future. But hopefully this gives a relatively good example of what the Strega is capable of on its own.
