The PTO on this Cub Cadet LTX1050 seemed to work okay, but something just wasn't right. Upon further inspection, the PTO had nothing to secure the flange to the tractor frame. No bolt, no bracket, no nothing. Fortunately, the absence of this component did not result in any damage to the PTO, nor did it rip the wires out of the PTO when the clutch was engaged. A little online research showed me that that an extension spring was missing. Here is how to replace the extension spring. You can get the spring here, MTD 732-0814, https://amzn.to/2ocz1Up.
