CPM Magnacut - Boker vigtig Vs wild

I’ve followed the story of the new ‘Miracle’ steel Dr. Larrin Thomas invented for while now. It’s an interesting story if you look his blog up. On paper, it’s not a stainless steel, at only around 9% Chrome, but it is more stainless than most stainless steels yet still tough as old boots rivalling the very best carbon steels. I looked into buying one of the early knives, but there was almost a year and a half waiting list and even then, they were not really quite the style of knife I wanted. So, when I noticed Boker had updated their Vigtig to Magnacut and added micarta scales for the ‘Vs Wild’ TV survival show, I was very interested. I checked out some videos, but there were none in English. I put the subtitles on and watched as they chopped thorough nails and security chains then cut paper and threw sparks. I’m not going to do that, you can find those vids easily enough, this is just an unboxing and a look at the knife for English ears to relax to. I wanted a tuff little knife, that wouldn’t rust – though to be fair you have to abuse most carbon steels for them to rust, though the edge could potentially dull due to corrosion – something I could pop in my archery quiver or back pocket. Something small enough I wouldn’t notice it on my belt. Something that would keep an edge, yet be easy to sharpen. Something I could jam into a tree or fence post, pry a stray arrow out with, not bend, not snap and still be sharp enough to skin a rabbit. Boker Vigtig Vs Wild, sweet little knife – Check it out…
