Join me on my first-ever Onam celebration in beautiful Kerala at Zebra Hostel in Varkala! 🌊✨ I was so lucky to experience this vibrant festival with some amazing friends. In this vlog, we dive into the rich traditions of Onam, from creating a stunning pookalam (flower arrangement) to the myth of King Mahabali.

Did you know that Onam is a celebration of return of King Mahabali. When Vamana steps on Maveli, he is pushed him into Patala. So Maveli was granted blessing that he could come back on earth during this season and hence Pookalam is an entry portal for Maveli onto the earth.
Onam is a way for the people of Kerala to commemorate Mahabali’s virtuous rule, celebrate their cultural and rich heritage🌺🏵🌴🪑🪢🥻🤴

We savored a delicious Onam sadya prepared by our talented in-house chechis (cooks) and participated in fun games like pin the bindi ( Sundarikku Pottu Thodal ), lemon and spoon races, musical chairs, and an epic tug of war! 🏆💪
