The Last Colony: A Tale of Exile, Justice and Courage
Philippe Sands in conversation with Selma Dabbagh

Philippe Sands' recent book, The Last Colony, unravels the harrowing history of the Chagos Islands and Mauritius, where over 2,000 inhabitants were forcibly exiled in 1973 to pave the way for a military base. Through the courageous story of Liseby Elyse, a descendant of slaves, Sands details a decades-long legal battle that culminated in a landmark victory for justice and freedom. In conversation with lawyer and writer Selma Dabbagh.

Philippe Sands is Professor of Law at University College London, and a Visiting Professor of Law at Harvard.
