Inside Italy's Eerie Ghost City: Poggioreale

OBSCURIST TOURIST 145 - For many years, I had one place sitting atop my "must visit" ghost towns list: Ruderi di Poggioreale. And, I FINALLY had the chance to visit it - and it did not disappoint by any means. One of the craziest places I've ever seen. It is out of a movie. It is so large that I don't think I was able to see even a quarter of what was in the town. Destroyed by the great Belice earthquake in 1968, there is a darkness that lingers over this snapshot of time - especially considering that over 200 people were killed.
