Varnam Series - Episode 2
For the second episode of Varnam Series, we have chosen a very beautiful Pada Varnam composed by the Violin Maestro Padma Bhushan Shri Lalgudi G Jayaraman in the Ragam Charukesi.

The varnam starts with the request of the devotee to free them from misery and every charanam describes the magnanimous nature of lord Krishna and his shower of blessings to people. It also very fittingly describes the deep amount of love and admiration of the devotee towards her lord Krishna and how she has been longing for his reciprocation of love. The varnam has been composed in a very moving manner by choosing the apt ragam for conveying the emotions that were being expressed by the devotee. This varnam is magical in a way that every time one sings or even listens to it, he/she will experience the emotions that the sahithyam of the varnam tries to convey. Shri Lalgudi G Jayaraman Sir plays this varnam on his violin in an unparalleled and moving way and we would like to dedicate this to him.

This varnam is very close to our hearts and these were the few reasons why we chose this particular varnam for the second episode in the series. We hope that our intention and the emotion of the varnam has come across through this humble rendition of ours.
