Aight, today we’re taking it back—Salisbury Steak, old school style!
This one right here is a classic. My grandma used to throw it down with this, and I grew up eating all that good senior citizen food—meatloaf, country-fried steak, and of course, Salisbury steak. Sunny ain't a fan, but I’m about to change that today.
I’m keeping it simple—juicy, well-seasoned beef patties, smothered in a rich onion and mushroom gravy, then taking it next level with some melted provolone on top. You already know it’s going to hit different with some rice on the side.

Ingredients:
For the Patties:
1.3 lbs ground beef
1 egg
¼ cup breadcrumbs
½ cup bell peppers, diced
½ cup onions, diced
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp thyme
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp chicken bouillon
3 garlic cloves, minced
For the Gravy:
2 tbsp butter
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
½ cup onions, sliced
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp chicken bouillon
¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 cups water (or chicken broth)
1 tsp Kitchen Bouquet (for color)
Extras:
6 slices provolone cheese
Rice or mashed potatoes (for serving)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1️⃣ Sweat the Veggies – Sauté diced bell peppers and onions in a pan until soft, then let them cool.
2️⃣ Mix the Patties – Combine ground beef, seasonings, egg, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, and the cooled bell peppers & onions. Mix well and form into patties.
3️⃣ Sear the Patties – Cook patties in a hot pan until browned on both sides, but not fully cooked through. Remove and set aside.
4️⃣ Make the Gravy – In the same pan, melt butter and sauté mushrooms & onions. Stir in seasonings and flour, then slowly whisk in water or broth. Let it thicken.
5️⃣ Simmer the Patties – Add the patties back into the gravy and let them cook on medium heat for about 5-7 minutes.
6️⃣ Melt the Cheese – For that next-level flavor, top each patty with provolone cheese and pop it in the oven just until the cheese gets melty and golden.
7️⃣ Serve & Enjoy – Plate it up with rice or mashed potatoes and go in!
