With the scroll of reversal in hand, there’s nothing to stop us from reaching Abazigal’s inner sanctum and confronting the bhaalspawn. Just like with Sendai, he’s not going to be open to negotiation and will respond to our arrival with all the power he can muster which, as a half-dragon, is a lot. Much like his son Draconis, his battle consists of two phases and it’s the second one that’s the most dangerous. Not only does he hit exceptionally hard but he has many magical defences that will prevent us from hitting him hard… unless we take advantage of one of the wands that Edwin has been holding onto for a very, very long time to dispel those magical defences.

We’ve reached the point where most of the very dangerous enemies have a large amount of buff spells that get cast pretty much instantly at the start of combat and while many of them don’t last long, it’s often long enough for them to eviscerate us with their heavy hitting melee attacks and/or massive amounts of spell power. Fortunately for us, Edwin has the answer in wand form and even if he didn’t, he’s got nearly every spell in the game scribed within his spellbook, some of which are devoted to stripping away the buffs these bosses rely upon to be difficult. That I haven’t used the wands until now is both unfortunate and fortunate for it’s left with more than enough charges for the rest of the significant battles in the game.

Whether they’ll be enough for us to prevail is another question entirely.
