Introduction to Wastewater Purification Working Model

This simple wastewater purification model shows how dirty water can be cleaned using a layered filtration system.

The model is made with basic materials: gravel, coal, sand, and tissue paper, all set up in a cardboard step structure. It's a great way to see how water can be filtered naturally to make it cleaner.

Components of the Model:

Cardboard Step Structure: The model is built on a cardboard platform with steps. Each step holds a different filtration material, allowing the water to pass through each layer one at a time.

Big Gravel: The first step has large gravel pieces. This layer catches big pieces of dirt and debris from the water, like leaves or small stones.

Small Gravel: The next step has smaller gravel, which traps finer particles that slip through the big gravel, further cleaning the water.

Coal: The third step contains coal (or activated charcoal). This layer helps remove impurities, odors, and some chemicals from the water, making it safer and clearer.

Sand: The sand layer is on the fourth step. It filters out even smaller particles, leaving the water much cleaner.

Tissue Paper: The final step has a layer of tissue paper. This acts as a fine filter, catching the smallest particles and ensuring the water that comes out is as clean as possible.

How It Works:

Pouring Dirty Water: You start by pouring dirty water into the top of the structure.

Layer-by-Layer Filtration: As the water flows down through each step, the gravel, coal, sand, and tissue paper work together to filter out dirt, particles, and impurities.

Collecting Clean Water: At the bottom of the model, the water that has passed through all the layers is much cleaner, showing how these natural materials can purify water.
