Moffat is a conservation and former spa town, midway between Carlisle, Edinburgh and Glasgow, less than a mile from the A74(M), with motor fuel at non-motorway prices, loads of shops, cafes, restaurants and accommodation, and is very popular for campers and caravanners. The Grey Mare's Tail and the Devil's Beef tub are nearby and 35 Golden Eagles have recently been introduced into the 300sq km of the surrounding Moffat Hills.
