The first window we will explore is ‘Market Watch’. In this window, you can view symbols for instruments, bid selling price, ask buying price, highest and lowest price, and the time of the last price update. Right clicking on an instrument in the ‘Market Watch’ window will allow you to select a variety of option.
‘New Order,’ allows you to open a trade for the selected instrument.
Selecting ‘Chart Window’ will open the chart window for the specific instrument.
‘Tick Chart’ allows you to view price tick changes.
To remove symbols from the market watch window, click ‘Hide’ to remove a specific symbol, or ‘Hide All’ to hide all symbols. To see all available symbols to trade, click ‘Show All’.
Or, if you only wish to view specific symbols, select the ‘Symbols’ button, chose the desired symbols category, and you will be able to view and select the specific instrument including bitcoin. Double click the desired symbol, and it will be added to your market watch window. All symbols are available to add, such as currencies under Forex Major and Forex Minor, Gold under Precious Metals, and individual stocks like Apple under US stocks.
The next window is the navigator window. Here, you can view and navigate between accounts on the same terminal. Simply double click on the account number under demo or live account in order to switch to another account. Under the indicator tab, you can easily access a wide range of indicators from the list. Find the indicator you would like to add, double click, set your desired parameter, and select ‘ok’ to add the indicator. Under the navigator window, you can access expert advisors to use the automated trading functions as well. Another useful window is the chart window, which represents the price movement of an instrument based on your selected timeframe. You can select various timeframes for your chart, from as little to one minute to weekly and monthly. Different chart types can also be selected.
The line chart tracks the instrument price change by drawing a line from one closing price to the next closing price. The bar chart tracks price movement with bars containing opening and closing price in addition to the high and the low price in the period. The small dash on the left represents the opening price and the small dash on the right represents the closing price. The candlestick chart is the most used chart among traders and each candle shows the opening and closing price in addition to the high and the low price in the period. For more information on the candlestick chart, please watch our video “How to Read the Candlestick Chart”.
You can also trade directly from the chart using right click. Right clicking above the current market price gives you the first context menu to open a Sell Limit order while right clicking below the current market price allow you to open Buy Limit order. If you select Trading, you will see more option for trading including placing a Stop pending order and a new order.
