In early 1997 Interplay Productions sent out a promotional VHS cassette to their registered mailing list members in the USA with some rebate coupons. The video on the cassette has a short footage about M.A.X. 1 which was already available on the market at the time and it was one of the titles to get a 10% off coupon. The short trailer proudly shows off the 5 out of 5 stars review score they got from Computer Games Strategy Plus in March with the punchline “Destined to be a true classic.”.
