The stimulus packages and politics of it all have given us a world of uncertainty for the last few weeks. We don’t know what is and isn’t going to be included and the two parties seem to be as divided as ever. However among the back and forth bickering we have heard very little against the second stimulus check. This seems to be one of the only things that has more agreement than not and it's been nice to have a solid foundation.

We have a new proposal on the table for $1000 stimulus checks and seeing this proposal has brought me back to reality a little bit. I realized the $1200 check hasn’t been voted in yet and nothing is an absolute sure deal yet.

Let’s look at the details of the check. The proposal is called The Coronavirus Assistance For American Families Act and is sponsored by Senators Cassidy Daines, Romney, and Rubio.

This proposal would give a $1000 stimulus check to all U.S. citizens with SSNs regardless of age.

Examples:
-If you’re a single filer you’d get $1000
-Joint filers get $2000 total
-A single filer with a dependent gets $2000
-Joint filers with 2 dependents get $4000

Compare this to the Cares act or the Heroes Act the Heals Act. All of those give a $1200 payment to all adults who qualify, with a separate dependent payment. The Heroes Act offered $1200 per dependent while the Cares Act and Heals Act offered $500 per dependent.

This new proposal includes eligibility for adult dependents including the disabled and college students.

This is one of the areas where for certain families you may prefer this proposal over everything else currently because you could receive a larger payment depending on how many dependents you have.

It works out under this stimulus proposal:
-if you’re a single filer you’ll get $200 less
-If you’re a single filer with 2 children you will actually get $800 more than you did from the Cares act
-if you’re a joint filer with 2 children you will get $600 more under this proposal versus the Cares Act.
