What’s the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” movie about?
Freshly escaped from prison, Everett (George Clooney from Out of Sight and Ocean's Eleven), Pete (John Turturro from Do the Right Thing and The Big Lebowski) and Delmar (Tim Blake Nelson from Holes) go on the run in the American South. Everett has a plan: he knows where a $1.2 million loot is buried. The first person they meet is a blind black man who wisely tells them that they will find treasure where they are going, but it won't be the one they think. The three escapees don't pay much attention to his words, as they need to get away from the jail as quickly as possible, especially with the zeal Sheriff Cooley (Daniel von Bargen) shows in his pursuit to get them back behind bars. After cleansing themselves of their sins by washing in a river with baptismal water, the three men head to a radio station with a young musician who newly joined the group. They record a song to raise a little money to sustain themselves while they find the loot. During their journey, they also meet three mermaids! With their supernatural charms, they try to lure the three of them to their mythical paradise, but only Pete takes the bait. Delmar is then convinced that their friend has just been turned into a frog by the mermaids and decides to take the little frog he found shortly after Pete's disappearance with him. Of course, nothing happened to Pete, and the three compares soon hit the road where many other adventures await them before they discover the real treasure hidden at the end of their journey.
