Recording and mixing acoustic guitars is difficult to get right. Let's have a listen at what's possible to achieve sound-wise by microphone placement alone.

This video is our first step to figuring out what's possible using broad strokes at first. It's meant to define the spectrum we have to work with to find the best mic placement. Not meant to be perfect, but to give an indication of where to look for what.
The placement of the mic in the room is important, the room itself, the treatment of it, the choice of instrument, strings, pick, mic and preamps are all important factors, but today we zoom in on what moving the guitar around the mic can do for you, as it's often an elusive thing to grasp.
Most videos will show different mic positions and not the actual proces of moving things around, so that's what I wanted to play with in a home-recording context.

In upcoming videos we will run the audio through an analyser, compare the frequency graphs of the different positions and try to extract the most useful, practical pieces of info. 'Till then, have you heard enough E major yet? :)
