Bayazid Bastami Tomb: A Shrine of Sufi Spirituality and Persian Culture
Bayazid Bastami was a Persian Sufi mystic who lived in the 9th century CE. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of the concept of fanā, or annihilation of the self in union with God. He is also famous for his ecstatic utterances and his visionary journey through the seven heavens. He is known as the Sultan of the Gnostics and the leader of the drunken school of Sufism.
