Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called upon Nigeria's Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, to decline the recently reintroduced social media regulation bill.

In a statement released yesterday, SERAP voiced concerns that the passage of this bill could unduly encroach upon the rights to freedom of expression and privacy. The organization further implored President Bola Tinubu's administration to discontinue its efforts to compel technology companies like Google and YouTube to restrict these fundamental human rights.
