Altitude Diaries - Episode 4 | The Ultimate Flying Experience & Chapter Finale

In this final episode of the Altitude Diaries chapter, the adventure reaches new heights! We take off from Mid Carolina Regional Airport, and for the first time, I get to control the plane and actually fly it — an incredible experience beyond words!

The thrill continues as we land at one of the smallest airports I’ve ever seen, with a runway so narrow it’s smaller than the plane itself. After refueling back at Mid Carolina Regional Airport, we head towards Hickory Regional Airport, where I get to communicate with ATC (Air Traffic Control) for the first time. Establishing communication and navigating through the skies feels surreal!

Upon landing, we drive to Hickory Downtown for a delightful lunch at Olde Hickory Station Restaurant—great food, cozy ambience, and a charming downtown atmosphere.

The adventure doesn’t stop there. We visit the Hickory Aviation Museum, guided by a Navy pilot, who shares incredible stories from his search missions and provides fascinating insights into the world of aviation.

Finally, we head back to Mid Carolina Regional Airport, wrapping up this unforgettable chapter of Altitude Diaries. The journey may conclude here, but the passion for flying has only just begun!
