My winter challenge on the CLEVELAND WAY #2

The Cleveland Way is a National Trail that sits in North Yorkshire skirting the high moors on one side of a horseshoe shaped path, while the other side follows a dramatic coastline. I did fell confident covering the 107.4ml/173km but the true test would be the effects of winter on my mental capacity and gear.

This second video covers days three and four of the journey, with a further video to follow, which well complete the record of this winter challenge. We start the next part of the journey by packing our gear following a wild nights camping near Clay Bank Top.

The first part of the journey takes us to the highest point on the North Yorkshire Moors and also the highest point of the Cleveland Way which is on Urra Moor. Due to the conditions on the moor we stay directly on the path rather than gaining the trig point which denotes this point on Round Hill. Further along we come to Bloworth Crossing which is where we say good bye to the coast to coasters whilst ee push on to Kildare which takes us off the moors into the village.

Next we are onto Newton Moor which sees us gaining the POI of Captain Cooks Monument and Roseberry topping. Supplies are bought in Skelton and we find a spot to wild camp for the night. Next morning we we wonder through Salburn Gardens before finally hitting the sea front and visiting the oldest water balance lift in the country.

We now follow the coastal path of the Cleveland Way and ascending Warsett Hill we admire the 'Circle' sculpture. Along this costal path we meet many fishing villages that we admire, including Skinningrove, Staithes and Runswick Bay. It is at the bay that the tide block our route and we have divert onto a disused railway track. This means we pass the converted station of Kettleness before finally stopping for a wild camp on the cliff side.
